Astable multivibrator

The 555 timer is a TTL compatible integrated circuit and can be used as an oscillator to produce a clock wave. When the correct external components are connected, the circuit alternates between these two unstable states continuously. In other words, the output is a periodic, rectangular waveform and the circuit oscillates.
