On the left of Nasal chowk, there is a sculpture of Narsimha which is a half-lion, half-man. Lord Vishnu assumed this shape in order to kill the powerful demon Hiranyakasyap. Hiranyakasyap had received the blessing that he couldn't be killed by either people or animals, not in the ground and either in the morning or night. So, against all chances, Lord Vishnu cleverly assumed this appearance and defeated Hiranyakasyap on his lap, as shown in the image.
