Khichara a dish made of sticky rice
Khichara is another delicacy within Tharu communities which serves as the main dish for various festivals and cultural events. Tharu people prepare Khichara with Anadi rice prepared into a kind of sticky rice and serve with vegetable, pickle and meat. It is the covered with banana leaf and steamed in clay pots over fire or cooked in coal fire. Khichara is so famous in some Tharu communities that culminates in the "Khichra Mahotsab" where people enjoy Khichra alongside other delicacies.
