Maya Devi temple is situated inside one of the world heritage site of Lumbini. It is the main temple that has archaeological remains dated to the third-century BCE brick buildings constructed by King Asoka and a sixth-century BCE timber shrine. The temple stands adjacent to a sacred pool and a sacred garden. There is also Ashoka pillar next to this temple that commemorate Ashoka's visit to Budha's birthpalce. A huge pilgrimages visit this place especially during Buddha Jayanti and full moon day throughout the year.
