Visit Pokhara: Wake up to spectacular scenery
Beautiful city known for the spectacular scenery. It is the base for trekkers undertaking the Annapurna circuit.
Getting there: A 30 minutes scenic flight (especially if you sit on the right side of the plane) or a 8 hour bus ride from Kathmandu. Take the tourist bus, if you decide to take the bus. The tourist bus leaves at 7:00 AM from Kantipath, ~15 mins walk from Thamel.
Go sightseeing Book a cab for a day and visit Davi's fall, Mahendra cave, bat cave (with actual bats on the roof), Gupteshwor Mahadev and mountain museum.
Hike up to Peace Pagoda It has a very serene atmosphere and a beautiful view of the Annapurna mountain range and Fewa lake. You can either take a cab here or take a boat and hike 45 mins up the hill. There is no proper road and the trail can be pretty slippery. So, be careful if you decide to hike. Also, make sure that you climb down early enough. If you decide to take a cab, make an arrangement with the driver beforehand and ask him to wait for you so that you can take the cab to the pagoda and return using the same cab (it is not very easy to get a cab from up there).
Paraglide from Sarangkot Paraglide above Pokhara and enjoy the stunning view of Annapunrna, Dhaulaghiri and Manaslu. Take the morning flight (9:30 am) for better atmosphere. Take your action cam with you, if possible.
Hike up to Sarangkot Alternatively, you can also hike up to Sarangkot (1592m) and enjoy the sunrise and the beautiful view of the mountains.
Dining: Grab a quick lunch an Byanjan. Really nice vibe, good food. Recommended: Soup momo or jhol momo. If you didn’t have time to go to Thakali in Kathmandu or liked it so much that you want it again, go to Pokhara Thakali Kitchen (better than one in Kathmandu imo). Regardless of whichever Thakali you go to, ask for half of rice and half of dhindo (doughy buckwheat paste, doesn’t have much taste on its own but is a staple food in the northern parts of Nepal. Tip: It tastes better when dipped in chicken soup, if you order chicken Thali).
After dinner Drinks: Pokhara lakeside has a better nightlife than Kathmandu, I think. There are a lot of bars and cafes and most of them have live music in the evening. Just walk around the street and see what you like.
