Santaneshwor Mahadev Temple

Santaneshwor Mahadev Temple is one of the famous Hindu religious place located at Bodegaun of Lalitpur. It is believed that Sati Devi, first consort of Shiva, sacrificed her own life when Shiva was insulted in front of other deities. Shiva, enraged with Satidevi's death, carried her dead body on his back and walked across the world. Shiva, blinded by rage, did not realize that Satidevi’s decaying body was falling apart. Satidevi's body parts fell down to different parts of the world. Santaneshwor Mahadev temple is believed to have been erected at one of these sites, where Satidevi's breast had fallen in this place. We can see shiva lingas, idol of shiva and Hanuman around the temple and Nandi (bahan of Lord Shiva) in front of the temple.

Hindu devotees visit Santaneshwor Mahadev to be blessed with children. We can see clean and green environment with dense forest. A huge masses of Hindu followers can be seen in the special occasions of Maha Shivaratri, Teej, Bada Dashain, and other Hindu festivals.
