Commemoration of the Great Quake

A year has now passed since the Great Quake happened. During this past year, the people of Nepal have experienced a wide range of emotions including shock, joy, sorrow and fear. They were also able to witness collaboration, success, glory, bravery and support. Through these hard times, the population was able to learn a lot and to teach others.

Unfortunately, people are still waiting for proper rehabilitation, still living in tent or temporary shelter and many of them are facing the challenges of the reconstruction of their building. Also, many people are still facing a great lack of daily needs. The aftershocks are still present and because of that, fear, uncertainty and feelings of unsafety are still present in people’s mind. Unfortunately, sexual harassment, rape, women and children trafficking and domestic violence have increased. Psycho-social problems are also very present and common. WODES commemorates the day of the earthquake 25 April 2015.
