World Peace Pagoda (Shanti Stupa)

The World Peace Pagoda is located on the peak of Anandu Mountain in Pumdi Bhumdi, Kaski, Pokhara. The stupa is 21 hundred feet above sea level. The Monument is 344 meters in circumference and about 31 meters high. It is the only stupa in Pokhara situated at such great height. The stupa is painted white to symbplize peace. On the pinnacle of the stupa is a gold cupola visible from far faaw. Four majestic statues of the Buddha are placed at the four compass points.

Owing to its unique hilltop location, the World Peace Pagoda has become very popular with the panoramic views of the valley, its surrounding mountains and the Phewa Lake resting in its lap. Visitors can hike for about 30 minutes to the pagoda or drive by motorbike or four-wheel drive vehicles using the road which is quite rough and bumpy.
