Monkey Business
According to research. There are around 234 species of monkeys worldwide, all listed as Least Concerned by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature. Of them, three major species are found in Nepal. Out of these three, around 1,000 Rhesus monkeysacaque (Macaca mulatta) are found in Kathmandu Valley.
The Monkey God Hanuman is worshiped as Macaque or Monkeys are also worshiped in Nepal. There’s a large group of monkeys that live and play in and around the temple of Nepal, mainly at Pashupati and in the monkey temple Swyambhu, to the delight and amusement of its visitors. Wildly enjoying their play time some jumping off on to trees, while others were happily going about their business, eating bananas and observing the believers who went there to pray.
