Agamchhen Temple
There is the famous three stored temple of Agamchhen behind the Hanuman Statue in the building with the ling verandah on the left if the part over the main entrance. Located inside the Hanumandhoka Durbar.
Agam god is installed inside the temple & it was worshiped in privacy by the Malla kings. Every Newar family members has its own Agam God it is installed in a separate room or temple. No one else besides the family members are allowed to enter the place where the Agam god is installed.
As Mohan Chowk inside the Hanumandokha Durbar was constructed by Pratap Malla, it is also believed that this temple was also erected by him. Worshiping Agam God at Hanumandokha Durbar Square came to stop after the end of Malla reign. It is said the temple doors have remained closed since then.
All around the temple are artistic doors with toran and on both sides of the door there are small Yaku(special combinations of tiles) windows. The Tundal of the temple have the image of gods & goddess of Shiva Sect carved on them. In the corner of every roof there is a Kunpa in the form of peacock and below the roof on all four side a pair of Kunsal joined together are placed. In a different Shikhara style, is a pinnacle in the form of small metal shrine like the one over Krishna temple in Patan, Lalitpur.
