Hanuman Statue

located in the left side of the main entrance of the Hanuman Dokha king Pratap Malla established this statue in 1729 B.S., the place was then named Hanuman Dokha. Hanuman the monkey god has long been a sacred symbol of divine strength, immediate service to the suppressed and determination for victory over vice. The image of Hanuman was installed with full respect right next to the main entrance of the palace for the protection of the palace & to gain victory in battels. The statue of Hanuman is placed on a 12 feet high square column. The statue is smeared with a paste of oil & vermillon (a brilliant red pigment made from mercury sulfide) on the occasion of Vamana Dwadashis day every year. Now it has become difficult to see the statue because of rubbing such a paste every year. The statue is always covered with a red cloth & there is a red umbrella over it. Red in our Hindu culture signifies supreme energy. On the right & left hand side of the statue there are two flags made in the shape of the national flag of Nepal.
