Yatkha Bahal
Heading straight form Maru Tole to Durbarsquare on the Pyaphal Tole on the left side, A huge open courtyard with a central stupa that looks like a mini-Swyambhu seen from the street itself. Directly behind it is an old building, whose upper storey is supported by four superb carved wood struts. Dating from the 12th to 13th century, they are carved in the form of yakshas(Yaksha is the name of a broad class of nature-spirits, usually benevolent, who are caretakers of the natural treasures hidden in the earth and tree roots), one of them gracefully balancing a baby on her hip. The struts were restored in 2002.Coming back to the street you can discover a small red building opposite the entrance of Yatkha Bahal. Dyo Chhen (God's house in Newari, but better known as Chamunda's House), is restricted for even for the priests and members of guthi who look after Kankeshwori Temple that lies southwest. The house is cordoned off with Iron Gate. It is held that the gate will open only after a human sacrifice is performed on the spot.
