Swet Bhairav

The temple of Swet Bhairav is one of the eight Bhairav temples which is situated in Basantapur of Kathmandu. It is kept hidden inside a wooden curtain throughout the year, and taken out only during the festival of Indra Jatra. It is built to protect the city form all threats. It is the most dangerous form of Lord Shiva.

Traditional Nepali liquor and rice beer is distributed from a pipe coming out of the mouth of Bhairav during Indra Jatra.
