Krishna Temple/Chyasin Dega
This temple of Vansagopal (Krishna playing the flute) was built in the seventeenth century by King Pratap Malla in memory of his two dead queens – Rupamati and ~*Rajamati~* – hoping to meet them again in the next life. It has architectural inconsistency with most other temples of the square with its octagonal construction plan and round appearance from a distance.
The temple enshrines Lord Krishna with his two wives Rukmini and Satyabhama and the cowherd ladies (Gopinis) that were modeled on Pratap Malla and his two queens.
The temple was renovated in 1967.
