Anti Rhino Poaching Through RAPID Technology
The Real-time Anti-Poaching Intelligence Device (RAPID) was developed by Protect, a British nonprofit focused on conservation and animal welfare. The device is already being tested in South Africa, where rhino populations are under threat from poachers seeking their valuable horns. It does not pose a risk to the rhino's health, either, and it can be implanted painlessly. This system uses GPS tags, heart rate monitors, and embedded cameras and prevent from poachers. This system can also be used to other threatened species such as elephants, lions.
Many rare animals are killed for their horns, ivory, bones and furs. So this may be effective system to prevent them from extinction.
